I get bothered by statements/phrases indicating the ghetto as this negative space that only undesirables reside.
Going to work is "ghetto". I don't like it here.
Adulting is "ghetto". I do not recommend.
Let me share something with you. Our way of life as Black Americans was established in the ghetto.
Our tribal and/or indigenous ancestors lived in what one would deem as ghettos.
The hood we love to claim to express toughness, grit, resilience, and "I ain't taking no shit" is the ghetto.
The ghetto is the birthplace of trending fashion and everything cool. The ghetto is in our blood and why our culture is so rich. The ghetto deserves more respect.
